Entering historic Meter Readings

Introduction

Meter readings can be added manually, one at a time.  For more information on how to do this, click here.

This section explains how to add meter readings in bulk.  This could be if you have 5 years worth of meter readings for a 10 channels that you want to update in Sigma.

Creating the Import CSV Files

You can have more than one reading for more than one meter in the CSV File.

The File will look like this:

This example has 7 Meter Readings for the Channel ID 1234-2 and 2 Meter Readings for the Channel ID 999-XYZ

ATag for the Channel ID, must read NPC:<channelID>

The Channel ID in the non-periodic channel.  In this example, the second line down, Data Load ID1 - enter 1234-2 in the Column B.

CLeave as NPD:  (Non-periodic Channel)
DEnter the date of the Meter Reading in the format dd/mm/yyyy for example 01/04/2019
EEnter the time of the Meter Reading in the format 00:00
FEnter the Meter Reading for the above time and date
GThis is to code used when the Meter Reading goes into Sigma.  Standard practice would be to enter 4 (No Errors)
HEnter COM: to commit the data to the database after each set of meter readings.  In the above example,  lines 1 - 7 are all for the same meter, and lines 8 and 9 for the next meter

Downloading the CSV File

Click Historic Meter Readings to download an example of the above File.

  • There is no need to add an introductory row on the CSV File

Saving the completed CSV File

Save the File in Excel as a CSV File to ensure it can be imported.

Resetting a Meter

  • If you want to reset the data, you can add a line in to do this. Generally used if the Meter Readings do not follow on properly and you want to manually reset.
    • Enter the Meter Reading date the day after the last reading
    • Add a Reading of 0 
    • Add a code of 39 (manual reset)

Below is an example with the line highlighted in red for you to see clearer (this will not be in red in the CSV File)

         

Importing the File

The File is imported using the General Tag CSV Importer, using the Importing Activity

Viewing the Data

Once the data has been imported, right click on the Non-Perodic Channel, then click Edit to open the Non-Periodic HFD Channel Editor

  • Click  to  open the HFD Data Viewer
