Sigma Release Information

In line with our business commitment to deliver innovative and robust solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers, we release regular enhancement updates to our Sigma solution. These upgrades include new functionality, performance enhancements and bug fixes.

You can find the details of each release including the benefits and changes to the way you use the system below.

Release 15.4

The 15.4 release includes changes that support the new Top Line structure of electricity MPANs as part of the Mandatory half Hourly Settlement (MHHS) industry update.

The Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement Change (MHHS)

Within the UK Electricity industry, you will have likely heard talk of the Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement change. This is often referred to as MHHS.

At its core this is a change to the way that the costs that Electricity Suppliers pay for the electricity that is used by you, their customers. To date this has been based on the use of estimated profiles to estimate the amount of electricity used in each half hour period by Non Half-Hourly supplies. This is changing so that, rather than using estimates, the Suppliers are billed by the industry on the basis of actual Half-Hourly reads which are now available due to the Smart Meter roll-out.

What does this mean for you?

The main customer facing aspect of this change will be the fact that the top line of the Supply Point Reference Number (SPRN) shown on your bills will change from having the Meter Timeswitch Code (up to 3 characters) and Line Loss Factor (up to 3 characters) to having the Standard Settlement Configuration ID (up to 4 characters) and DUoS Tariff ID (up to 3 characters).

This means its appearance will change from:

Sigma System Changes

As a result of the above we have also been making system changes to accommodate the industry change. The system will be changed to allow the entry of 4-character Standard Settlement Configuration ID (SSC). The “network charges” top line validator will also be deprecated and a new validator provided which will check that there is a DUoS Tariff for the DUoS Tariff ID entered in the Supply Point in Sigma. As part of the release the initial setting of all Supply Points will be assigned an SSC of ‘0000’ and the DUoS Tariff ID will be set to the current Line Loss Factor.

You can update the Top Line on your Supply Points:

You will be able to amend the Name and Reference fields yourself, and we can assist with the ‘boxed’ version.
